OK, second week into this, and I’ll be honest. not much happening. We have yet to hear from the Principal at the school abut setting up our first meeting with the students. I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can get this moving a bit faster. I would really like to have this painted by the end of the school year.... Read more

Fighting Procrastination - well, maybe tomorrow…

February 13th, 2010 · No Comments · How To, Murals

Nothing like procrastination to get your attention, right? I mean, really…I’ve been meaning to get back to this blog for at least a year now, and it hit me: why have I been putting this off? It seems simple enough – just write a little every once in a while. No big deal, right? But I have this nasty little habit: unless something is written down, it rarely gets done. If it’s not written down, and it gets done, it’s because it got done accidentally. I probably happened to run across it while doing something else. Its classic ADD. It’s something I’ve – LOOK! A SQUIRREL! - something I’ve done for as long as I can remember. I get distracted quite easily. And I find the same thing happens when it comes to clients. If someone says, “Can you stop by sometime this week?” I might as well put them in the round file. Anything and everything will get in the way. I might set up a time to get there, but because it wasn’t “important” to the client, and they just said “anytime”, everything will get in the way. I will keep putting them off and putting them off until the client calls wondering where I am, or I just forget about it altogether. Now, if they say, “Can you be here Thursday at 3pm?” man, I will be there 5 minutes early! Because it’s definite. It’s in writing. It’s specific. I guess that’s what I’m saying: make lists, follow them. Put them where you can see them every day. If you don’t like paper, use your Blackberry. Or your Outlook program. Set alarms. You’ve got the tools, so use them! I’m looking forward to writing after hearing my alarm go off for next Sunday. And every Sunday after that! Now, Go Paint Something!... Read more

Read this Before You Consider Wall Mural Paintings

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments · Murals

The history of wall mural paintings is rich and complex. They go back for centuries and started as a form of communication in caves. As their artists evolved so did their message and purpose. Wall mural paintings became a way to convey political messages as they focused people’s attention on society’s issues. Murals have continued to evolve not only in their purpose but their uses and sometime around the turn of the 20th century they became an addition to people’s homes and were used as home décor....
