Hey guys,
As you know, I paint murals. If you haven’t read my bio please be sure to check it out so you can read details about my career and longevity in this industry. To make a long story short…I’ve been painting murals for way too many years. You want to know something about murals? Then give me a shout. I can give you answers to all kinds of questions. And if I can’t, then I can find someone who can. So what am I doing here, carrying on a conversation with myself?
Well, as it turns out, I was told by my web-design people (see, I have “people”, too!) that a successful website has to have a blog. So I guess that is what I am doing- blogging.
I thought at first, boy, what a total waste of time. But then I pondered it a bit more, and realized, how cool this could be! I remember that I did a blog a couple of years ago when we painted that huge project in Gatlinburg, TN.
I was blown away not only by the number of people that told me that they were reading my insane ramblings, but by the number of times that I was told that they couldn’t wait to see what happened next!
Kind of like those old Saturday morning serial cliffhangers, our painted version of Sex in the City, drawing you in to the next episode! So why not do a blog that talks about the projects we have going on, as well as the ones we DON’T have going on!
Yea, even world-famous artists like me have downtime every once in a while where we have to go out and beat the bushes!
Hey…just because I’ve been painting longer than most of you have been alive doesn’t mean that clients are beating down my door to have a mural painted. You would like to think so, but it doesn’t happen, at least not in real life. Sometimes simply being good just doesn’t cut it!
And I think that that is exactly what I would like to talk about in this space: real life. You know, the stuff they don’t teach you in school. Not only the marketing and business aspects of being an artist, but also working with those special tools, tips and techniques, tackling those problems that only come up in our type of business.
So sit tight, check back often, and send in questions if you have them. And I’m talking about any type of question. It seems that work and relationships go hand in hand, so this could be fun. Now I’m no “Dear Abby”, but with Mickie at my side, I’m sure that this trip is going to be long and strange indeed!
In the meantime, go paint something!
Mike
